The Arnold Mills Parade is a Cumberland Tradition
The theme for this year’s parade is: “Believe”
Fun, food & music
Awards for floats
Awards for walking horribles
The origin of the Arnold Mills Parade is the theme of “Ancients and Horribles.”
First seen in the histories prior to the United States Sesquicentennial Celebration of 1926, the Ancients and Horribles were a grass roots phenomena which highlighted the love of the American people of all things “wild and wonderful.”
The parade kicks off at 11am at the RI/MA border, on Route 120 (Nate Whipple Highway) in Cumberland, RI. The parade routes extends about 1 mile and ends at the intersection of Nate Whipple Highway and Abbott Run Valley Rd.
The parade, over 90 years old, has been known as the Horribles Parade. However, it now includes fire trucks, antique and custom cars, bands, clowns, decorated bicycles, Patriotic Walkers and floats. The success of the parade has been founded on the creativity and enthusiasm of people such as yourself. Therefore, can we count on your participation this year?
